Featured Etsy Seller of the Week~HoneyDew Studios

1. Tell us a little about you and your shop:
I have a BFA in illustration from Rhode Island School of Design. My work largely consists of children’s illustrations. I love anthropomorphized animals (as you can tell from my shop). They never fail to make me smile! I opened my Etsy shop over a year ago. Originally, it was intended as a way for me to sell my extra illustrations and gift items that were left over from the art fairs I used to do. (Now I’m addicted! Haha!)

2. Are you a full time crafter? What else do you do?
Unfortunately, I’m not a full-time illustrator or crafter. (I wish!) I have a full-time “day job” as is the case for most of the artists I know. I work as the administrative assistant for the grant director at a literacy-based developmental preschool. I’m up to my eyeballs in children’s books, kids run in and out of my office all day, and I love it.

3. What is your favorite item in your shop?
That’s a tough one. I guess I’ll have to go with Cosma the Diva Pig. She’s the one that inspired me to start making and selling my plush characters. She is also the piece that got me noticed by HGTV. “That’s Clever” came to my studio last summer to tape me for an episode. (Though, my show won’t be airing until next season.) So I think by default, I have to list her as #1.

4. How did you get into this business?
My mother is an avid crafter, and I’ve always loved (and have been involved in) art it in some way. What could be more perfect than to try to mesh your passion with your work life? I couldn’t imagine NOT doing it!

5. Anything new and exciting we should look for?
I’ve been creating tiny original drawings mounted on mat board lately. There are a few for sale already in my shop. They’re really fun. I plan on making more…I have so many ideas of what I want to draw next! 6. Do you have a blog or website you would like to share? I’m still working on my personal website, so the only sites I have up and running right now are my Etsy shop and my blog. The blog can be found here:http://www.honeydewstudio.blogspot.com/
