Here is the featured seller of the week, lauraslefthook! Laura is a fellow etsy hooker! She has a wonderful blog where she features a fellow etsy hooker every week, so I thought it was high time that she be featured herself!
1. Tell us a little bit about you and your shop:
I have crocheted since I was in college, although my grandmother did try to teach me a bit when I was younger. I also like to do some paper crafts, but crocheting has taken over right now. I am trying to fill my shop with items that kids and their parents will love as well as useful creations for around the house.
2. Are you a full time crafter? What else do you do?
I am a stay at home mother to two daughters. One daughter is in kindergarten, while the other is three and still at home all day. My youngest was born with a hearing loss, so we have been learning ASL (American Sign Language.) At this time, her speech and language skills are great, but you never know so we continue to learn. I also plan and run a playgroup twice a month to learn ASL for toddlers and preschoolers.
3. What is your favorite item in your shop?
I love making the puppets. I think I really like my ballerinas, but I am also proud of the wolf since I had to figure him out all by myself.
4. How did you get into this business?
I did a craft fair before I was married, but then mostly just created things for gifts. Last fall my husband lost his job and I decided to try making things to sell again to help with our finances (or at least pay for my hobby.)
5. Anything new and exciting we should look for?
I have an idea for a new puppet that I really need to get back to working on. I have just added some tawashi scrubbers to my shop because my blog was linked to a site that suggested using my flower coaster pattern to make them; I figured I would try it out myself.
6. Do you have a blog or website you'd like to share?
I feature an Etsyhooker each week, show off my creations, share information about ASL, share children's book finds, and a few odds and ends.
